Mission & Vision

Vision – The Johnson County Community Foundation strives to be the philanthropic leader in improving our community, today and in the future, by connecting people who care with causes that matter in Johnson County.
Mission – To enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Johnson County, now and for generations to come, by building community endowment, addressing needs through grantmaking, and providing leadership on key community issues.

The foundation is a vehicle by which private donors may make a lasting contribution to our community. The Foundation fulfills its mission by:

  • Encouraging private giving for the public good;
  • Building and managing a permanent endowment to respond to changing community needs, both now and for the future;
  • Providing a flexible and cost effective vehicle for donors with varied charitable interests and abilities to give; and
  • Serving as a catalyst, convener and partner in researching and shaping effective responses to community problems and opportunities.

Connecting people who care with causes that matter

History

In 1989, community leaders established the Pride and Progress Foundation of Greater Greenwood, but soon realized the benefits of enlarging its scope countywide. So in 1991, they reorganized to form the Johnson County Community Foundation, setting into motion the growth and impact of JCCF’s work in the community today. However important our roots, the essence of the Johnson County Community Foundation - strong leadership, visionary grantmaking and generous donors - makes our work come alive and take flight. Strong leadership guides the growth and vitality of JCCF, as a philanthropic resource to the Johnson County area. JCCF convenes, facilitates and collaborates with diverse audiences - donors, nonprofit organizations and community leaders to find solutions to common concerns.

JCCF recognizes the need to make an impact in the community through well-placed grants. JCCF's grants offer new ways of approaching complex problems. They also provide an outlet for sharing information among the public, private and nonprofit sectors about community needs. Generous donors provide both the resources and spirit for making Johnson County a better place to live, work and play. JCCF strives to help each donor meet his or her personal philanthropic goals through prudent fund management, creative charitable gift planning, and assistance in maximizing community impact through grants.
