Connecting to make a triple impact

Published: May 27, 2015 by Johnson County Community Foundation

Ed and Judy Deiwert took advantage of the Lilly Endowment GIFT VI Initiative to make a greater impact with their giving dollars.

“We had been thinking about establishing a fund for a while, and when the Lilly GIFT VI was announced, it definitely made sense to do it now,” said Ed, who is a former JCCF board member.

The Lilly Endowment match, which was $2 for $1 for board members, tripled the impact of the Deiwert’s gift.

“We’ll probably never see another opportunity like this. Johnson County has been our home for 35 years and has been a wonderful place to live and raise a family. This is just something we can do to help make Johnson County a better place for others to live as well, now and in the future.

“It’s impossible to know today where resources will be most needed years from now, so it’s important to have unrestricted funds available for future boards and grants committees to meet the most pressing needs of their times. Thereare many ways to donate, and JCCF makes the process very easy,” said Ed.

The matching challenge was met, and the Foundation was able to increase its community grantmaking in Johnson County.
