JCCF Offers Free Training Session Next Month for Nonprofit Organizations

Published: May 14, 2025 by Johnson County Community Foundation

JCCF is offering another Elevate Impact session next month for nonprofit organizations. These FREE capacity-building workshops aim to strengthen organizations and empower leaders throughout 2025. The next Elevate Impact session, The Power of Narrative: Storytelling for Impact, takes place on June 4, 2025, from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the Compass Park Event Center (690 S State St, Franklin, IN 46131).

Funders receive countless proposals filled with facts and figures—but the ones that truly stand out are those that tell a compelling story. Effective storytelling in grant writing goes beyond listing needs and statistics; it highlights the resilience, successes, and impact of the people and communities you serve.

In this session, you’ll learn how to craft narratives that engage, persuade, and inspire action by balancing meaningful data with real client stories. You’ll also explore how asset-framing and empowering language can strengthen your proposals, ensuring that your storytelling reflects dignity, possibility, and impact.

Key Topics:

  • Why storytelling is essential for successful grant proposals
  • Key elements of an impactful, strengths-based grant narrative
  • Practical techniques for integrating data and client stories effectively

Who Should Attend:

Nonprofit staff, development professionals, and program leaders looking to elevate their grant writing and demonstrate impact more effectively.

Facilitator:

Morgan Carpenter is a nonprofit consultant, grant writer, and Grant Professionals Association-approved trainer. She is also the author of Prepare for Impact: Everything You Need to Know to Win Grants and Super-Charge Your Nonprofit. Morgan works with a variety of nonprofits in the human services sector to improve their grant readiness, engage in strategic planning and program development, create tools and resources that support their ability to achieve their goals, and create a positive impact in our community. Her strategic approach to this work is rooted in her experience with proposal writing and grants management, which enables her to help local organizations solve challenges and achieve long-term success through alignment with nonprofit best practices.
