Johnson County Community Foundation Announces Winning Mural Artist and Seeks Painters for ‘Color the County’ Community Painting Day

Published: June 16, 2025 by Johnson County Community Foundation

The Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) is happy to announce Emma Tschopp’s design as the winner for the next Color the County mural on Taxman Brewing Company in Bargersville. JCCF invites the public to Community Painting Day on July 19, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Emma Tschopp grew up in Southport before moving to Greenwood a few years ago. She has always had a love for art and creativity. At Greenwood High School, her art teacher, Mrs. Gullery, introduced her to the Color the County contest, which inspired her to submit a design. Emma will be entering her junior year this coming school year.

Although she has never taken professional art classes, art has always been a part of her life—both of her parents studied art-related subjects in college. For Emma, faith is the most important part of her life, and she feels most connected to it when creating art, which is a big part of why she loves it so deeply.

The Johnson County Community Foundation aims to enrich the community with public art by creating murals throughout Johnson County. The Color the County Mural Program brings together artists and community members through a collaborative mural-making process, resulting in impactful artworks that can revitalize public spaces and strengthen neighborhood identity. Everyone is encouraged to take part—no prior experience is needed. All paint and materials are provided.
