President's Post: "Cayman's Adventures"

Published: June 7, 2016 by Gail Richards, president and CEO

I am pleased to introduce you to our amazing intern, Cayman Jarvis. Cayman’s family has deep roots in Johnson County, and he attends IUPUI where he is studying philanthropic studies and special events. He has been invaluable to JCCF thus far and will be doing even more to help the community during the summer and fall months.

As you know, JCCF helps build capacity of the nonprofits in the community through many activities including workshops, training and grants. As part of our 25th anniversary celebration, Cayman will be spending time with many nonprofits to help them with special projects that I will let him recap on his own here. Cayman, spend a little time telling everyone a few of the projects you are working on to help our nonprofit partners:

Hello! I am Cayman, and I am excited to be interning at JCCF. I have been with the Foundation since March and am thankful that they are keeping me throughout the fall. Interning here has increased my knowledge of nonprofits, fundraising and community involvement.

  • I have a wide variety of tasks starting from shredding papers all the way up to being in charge of $1,000 dollar grant giveaways. Coming up for me this summer I have several great responsibilities.
  • I am helping coordinate five $1,000 grant giveaways through our partnership with KORN Country radio.
  • I am helping Kim Minton with our new Color the County Mural Program that gives Johnson County residents the opportunity to paint murals in Bargersville, Franklin and Greenwood this summer.
  • I am volunteering for several other organizations, including Girls Inc., Johnson County Museum, JC 4-H, JC Senior Services and St. Thomas Clinic.

I am eager to see who JCCF helps out in our community. I am also blogging about my experiences on the JCCF website. Check out my posts here!

A special thanks to our Platinum Community Partners!
